We think there is potential to double cycling in North Staffordshire in the short term and double it or more after that by making cycling a safe and normal mode of travel.

About us

We are a small group of local cyclists who want local councils to adopt an effective approach to enable cyclists to get to their destinations in a safe and direct way. We also want future development and road proposals to contribute to safe cycle routes.

We welcome the ideas and views of all existing and potential local cyclists on how best to achieve these aims. You can see our thoughts in campaign ideas and also this booklet.

Your suggestions can help improve our ideas and your support will help get public decision makers to take notice of our ideas.

You can let us know your views via this website – see questionnaire  or facebook and if you want to join in our campaign meetings then let us know the best way to contact you

What Can be Done?

We think that local councils need to:

  1. Commit to a plan for a major increase in cycling and walking and identify the future cycle route network needed to achieve this
  2. Have a prioritised programme of cycle schemes and for 20 mph across residential areas and town centres
  3. monitor cycling and walking levels and evaluate the effectiveness of past schemes
  4. Publicise cycle routes and help employers and colleges to enable more employees and students to cycle

We think that local cyclists can not only lobby for the above, but can help councils by:

  • providing a forum of local knowledge to contribute to council cycling plans and schemes that affect cyclists
  • alerting the council to local cycling hazards, route maintenance issues etc
  • supporting council action to promote cycling
